Women of 'free' India are not even 'free' to decide with whom they will have sex

Contrary to the tall claims of the litterateur class of our country and the government the women of this country are still cursed to live the life of not even second, third but the last category of citizens as rather they are not considered human as well.
When we talk about discriminatory behavior by the illiterate class or the intellectually backward class it is somehow justifiable given to their inability but strikingly barring speeches, even the intellectual class of our society is not willing to provide women with the equal rights in the society.
A strange scenario emerges when we give a serious thought where even today, it is the society, more precisely the male dominated society which decides the fate of a women’s sexual life. It is male who decides that, with whom a woman will have physical relations. Though strange but its fact, that in our society that it is the males who decide the marriage of their daughters and sisters and determine her sexual life.
If we give a serious thought to it the problem lies in the institution of marriage itself. More interestingly given the socio economic conditions of our country the dissolution of marriage could put a check on most of our problems, like population growth, women empowerment and others.
But the parochial approach which is prevalent in our society since ages is not only acting as a hurdle in the development of the society directly but it is also posing much severe thought in the development by infecting the intellectual minds of our country. Even the most feminist in our country will not allow his or her sister or daughter to indulge in a live in relationship. Narrow-mindedness apart and if some flaws in the live in relation structure are checked it provides much larger freedom to the women. Though it’s unfortunate that a majority of our society is against such relations despite all our education we are not yet able to keep our minds open.
When everywhere we are talking about women empowerment and a hell lot of government schemes from reservation in legislature to janani suraksha in Madhya Pradesh are being executed for the welfare of the woman. But unfortunately we are neglecting the basic facts that root of women empowerment lies in the psychological development of the society.

''But the parochial approach which is prevalent in our society since ages....''. Does it mean India was always like this?
I am getting a different picture while I pursued how wedding and marriages happened in traditional India. This is what I found out.

So you say you despise marriage because it is corrupt. Check whether you change you mind after reading my post :)

My point is that it is not marriage that is the problem but our society that changed it in the way it wanted it.
